June Smyth King award

June Smyth-King was a member of Hawkesbury Dressage from the club’s inauguration and one of the first Life Members. Although she didn’t ride, June was a great supporter of the club and helped to develop riders from Preparatory to FEI. She was an A Level judge who judged at almost all of Hawkesbury Dressage Club’s competitions, and a great supporter of the sport in the Hawkesbury region. June was an innovative leader in Dressage, and wrote a series of HDC exclusive “Classical tests”, which pioneered the stretching trot before its addition to Official E.A. Tests.

You can see those tests here: Preliminary | Novice | Elementary

June passed away in 2011 and her family kindly donated a memorial plate to be awarded in honour of her years of dedication to our club.

The June Smyth-King award will be presented to the Club Member with the highest scoring Elementary test at the festival in the Open and AOR division.
