“I loved [Volunteering]! It gave me a chance to meet old friends and make new ones and see amazing horses in action.”

BECOME A HELPING HERO.

Did you know? Each competition day needs 20 volunteers to run per hour, per day!

But here's the good news - if every rider did just a couple of hours across the Festival, all slots would be filled across all seven Festival competition days!

Without volunteers, your scores aren't recorded or returned to the office on time, your officials aren't catered for (which doesn't put them in the mood to give you those 8s!) and the future of the sport becomes questionable.

We all have families, horses to feed, work commitments and more - be a helping hero and put up your hand. If you can't put up your hand, please consider asking a family member or friend if they can volunteer in your place.

If you can’t volunteer on a day you’re riding, please consider coming back on another day to help.

Volunteers are the backbone of our Club.

Volunteer benefits

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT OUR RANGE OF...

pencilling

One of the most educational ways to volunteer, you’ll get a first hand view at what performance earns what mark, and get to know your local judges between tests.

scoring support

Freestyle music / announcing

Not as scary as it sounds! Your music will be set up and ready to go, and your announcer sheets ready and waiting. Just introduce the rider (script and details provided), and press play once they raise their hand! Then sit back and watch horses dance from the best seat in the house.

How can I help?

We have many different roles to suit various interests, needs and mobilities. These include:

A great way to spectate! Grab a friend to keep you company. Our paper collectors take score sheets to a close, central location point to be picked up, so you won’t be walking too far. Our Buggy Drivers will meet our paper collectors at a central point and drive them to our scorer, and may deliver some items to our judges and stewards from time to time.

ARENA SURFACE OFFICER

Keep watch over the surfaces of the Indoor Arena and Warm Up (Arena 6). You'll pick up the odd manure at the end of each test, but you'll spend the majority of your day watching beautiful horses!

EVENT OFFICE & HOSPITALITY SUPPORT

You’ll be helping out with odd jobs around the office, or stepping in to fill other gaps where someone doesn’t show for their timeslot.

help the committee

Want to help the committee with some work behind the scenes, prior to the show, but not ready to be a full member of the committee just yet? Get in touch to let us know. If you can send some emails, make some calls, there's lots we'd happily have some help with!
