CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hawkesbury Dressage Club

How do Championships differ from regular classes?

Each division (Open, Amateur Owner/Rider, Pony, Closed Unrestricted, Junior/Young Rider) will enjoy one weekend of Championships at the Hawkesbury Dressage Festival! The other weekend will feature non-Championship classes to have a lead up or to continue building on your scores. Championship classes are split over both weekends to ensure entries aren't oversubscribed and our judges and volunteers aren't overwhelmed.

PRIZES

Champion:
In addition to your blue and green Champion rosette, we are proud to offer beautiful Kersey Wool rugs from Camelot Horse Rugs once again to our Champions.

Reserve Champion:
In addition to your blue and green reserve Champion rosette, we are proud to offer embroidered saddle pads to our Reserve Champions.

Additional Championship placings:
In 2024, HDC is proud to offer prizes for placing third-sixth within the Championship point scoring system, pending entries.

Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement! View some of our  past beautiful prizes below.

Placings 1st-6th in all Championship divisions will receive a beautiful rosette rather than a traditional ribbon.

At this time, photographs will be taken for the Sponsors who generously donate their funds and cover these prizes.

We ask that riders in the running for a Championship:
  • Keep watching the scoreboard to know if they are eligible
  • Attend, or ask someone to attend in your place, the presentations
  • Be in competition attire for the photographs, or ask your stand-in to be in competition attire
  • Be respectful to your fellow competitors and stay until the presentations are complete
  • Thank your sponsors publicly and/or privately for their sponsorship

Championship prizes will not be posted. Recipients must collect awards or have them collected in person on their behalf.

Presentation timetables will be available via Competitor Info shortly before the event.

POINT SCORE

Championships will award a Champion and Reserve Champion based on the results in both tests at the one level.

  1. championships are to be decided on points system
  2. all competing horses will be ranked on the combined results of tests at each level
  3. the first placed horse will receive 35 points, second will receive 34 points, third will receive 33 points and so on to the last placed horse
  4. where there are equal places, the Champion will be the horse with the highest aggregate percentage at that level. In the event of a further tie, the horse with the highest percentage in the higher competition at that level will be deemed the Champion

For example, in the results below, Diamond would win the Championship, even though they didn’t place first in either test. As Starlight and Dancer have the identical pointscore, whoever had the highest aggregate percentages would be crowned the Reserve Champion.
